Capital City Therapy Group, was founded in 2011, our mission is to help children develop through individualized family planning. Capital City Therapy Group, provides speech and language, physical therapy and occupational therapy services to children birth to 5 years of age. Our goal is to provide therapy that looks like play and incorporate therapeutic exercises to encourage family involvement in order for their child to reach their full potential.We aim to teach parents and caregivers how to encourage play, to learn and explore within the child's natural environment; either home or daycare.We encourage community education and work closely with parents, pediatricians, early interventionists and other healthcare professionals to ensure all our clients reach their goals. Christine Speegle, OTR received her Associates in Occupational Therapy in 1985, in New York and worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for 10 years. She began her career working with multiple disabilities in a special education school for children 3-21 years of age, she also worked for a non-profit agency in a variety of settings; from senior centers, day-programs, early intervention, preschools and shelter workshops. Christine then earned her BS in 1995 at Dominican College in New York and worked as a Registered Occupational Therapist in various facilities; in/outpatient clinics, head-trauma units, nursing homes, public / private schools and early intervention, where she served as a lead therapist. Then in 2002 Christine moved to South Carolina and continued to work with children from birth to 21 years of age. In 2011 she teamed up with Robin Vance Ray to open Capital City Therapy Group. Over the many years Christine has had the pleasure of working with some amazing therapists who helped develop adaptive equipment, taught Facilated Communication, implementation of the TEACCH Program into private / public schools, IconTalk and numerous other wonderful experiences.
Robin Vance Ray
Robin Vance Ray, M. A. CCC-SLP, received her Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Central Florida in 1998. She began her career in the Orange County Public School where she worked with preschool to elementary aged children in self-contained, resource and itinerant level settings. Robin moved to Lexington, SC in 2004 and continued her career in Lexington/ Richland 5 school district. There, she worked in various settings, including high school, middle school and preschool. She had the opportunity to build her knowledge of AAC devices and job training for special needs high schoolers. In 2007 Robin opened her own small private practice, Tyke Talk, as a BabyNet provider for children birth to 3 years of age. Then in 2011 Robin expanded her practice and teamed with Christine Speegle opening Capital City Therapy Group, LLC. Over Robin’s 19 year career, she has worked in many different settings, which has broadened her skills to effectively work with a wide patient population. She has received certification in Beckman Oral Motor and holds her CC certification from the American Speech Hearing Association.
